How to play Gaple

Gaple in the app follows the PORDI 2025 rules. Here is everything you need for your first table; the in-app guide has the full detail.

The basics

28 tiles, 4 players

A double-six set from 0-0 to 6-6. Everyone gets 7 tiles. A double is called a balak. If anyone is dealt 5 or more balak, the tiles are dealt again.

Opening the deal

In the first deal of a set, whoever holds 6-6 must open with it. After that, the winner of the previous deal opens with any tile.

Your turn

Place a tile matching either open end. If you can play, you must. If nothing fits, you pass and your hand stays the same.

15 seconds per turn by default

If time runs out, the game plays a random legal tile for you. Room hosts can choose 15, 30 or 60 seconds.

Two ways to play

Tunggal · free-for-all

4 players, every one for themselves

A set is 7 deals by default. The highest total after the last deal wins. A tie for first is settled with an Additional Game.

Ganda · 2 vs 2

Partners sit across the table

The first team to 7 points (default) wins. When a team wins a deal, both partners get the points.

Scoring a Domi

The first player to empty their hand scores fixed points based on the last tile. There are no multipliers.

Points for each kind of Domi
ResultWhenPoints
Domi biasaNormal last tile, fits one end+1
Domi BalakLast tile is a balak (double)+2
Domi CekiLast tile fits both open ends+2
Ceki HabisCeki, and nobody holds either end number+3
Ceki BalakCeki with a balak+3
Ceki Palang (Apollo)Ceki with a balak, and both numbers used up+4

Ceki with only one end number used up: the end where you place the last tile decides the score (+2 or +1). If the tile fits both ends, the app asks which end you want.

Domi Kandang: when the board locks

If a tile leaves nobody able to move, the player who placed it is the locker. Everyone counts the pips left in their hand.

Tunggal

  • Locker has the fewest pips: locker +3
  • Locker ties the lowest opponent: each opponent on that total +1
  • An opponent has fewer pips: opponents +3 / +2 / +1 by pips

Ganda

  • Locker has the fewest pips: locker's team +2 each
  • An opponent ties the locker: opposing team +1 each
  • An opponent has fewer pips: opposing team +3 each
